Visit Mont Saint-Michel from our hotel

Daily shuttle from Bayeux

The Churchill Hotel provides a daily shuttle service to Mont Saint-Michel, which is located around 100 km from Bayeux. When you stay at our hotel, you can take a day trip to Mont Saint-Michel and discover what is truly one of the wonders of the world. This small rocky island, upon which a monastery was founded by the Bishop of Avranches to honour the archangel Saint Michael in 709, has been a source of fascination for centuries. In addition to its architectural beauty and rich history, there lies an air of mystery surrounds the site due to the the tidal flows and the vast bay surrounding Mont Saint-Michel. The island and the bay seem one and the same, something that needs to be seen to be believed. This is one of the many reasons why Mont Saint-Michel has been classed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

At the entrance of the medieval city in the Corps de Garde des Bourgeois (former city guard house) and across from the canons is the tourist information office. Passing through the Porte du Boulevard gate, followed by the Porte du Roy with its drawbridge, you’ll discover the Grande Rue with its museums, shops, restaurants (including the must-visit Auberge de la Mère Poulard) and 15th and 16th century houses (the drawbridge passage also leads to the ramparts trail).
The Eglise Paroissiale, a small church from the 15th and 16th centuries, is dedicated to Saint Peter, patron saint of fishermen. Finally, the Ascension du Grand Degré will lead you up the hill to the Merveille and the Abbey. After you’ve admired the Abbey, you can admire the indescribable beauty of the bay as you follow the trail of the walls or the round path which is interspersed with small gardens.

From our hotel near Mont Saint-Michel, you can take a return day trip to the magnificent island.
